Wildlife Food Varieties

White Wonder Foxtail millet is a dual purpose millet that can be cut for hay or grain. White Wonder is high yielding, white seeded variety that is similar to German millet.

686 Hybrid Pearl Millet is a grain type pearl millet that makes an excellent wildlife food plot. It combines superior cover for wildlife with a food source that is three to five feet in height.

It should be planted in late May through mid-June when soil temperatures are 60 - 65 degrees. The suggested planting rate is two-three pounds per acre and it recommended to plant the seed 1/2 to 1 and1/2 inches deep.

The crop will mature in late September and early October. It has good stalk strength which results in excellent cover throughout the winter. It can also be mixed with other crops to enhance any wildlife habitat planting.
